THE Bernoulli Itinerary

1989, b/w video installation

Mapped projection and one stripped, hanging TV tube, sound,

alternatively 4 hanging, stripped TV tubes

Inspired by the 1805 book ON THE PHOSPHORESCENCE OF THE SEA by CHRISTOPH BERNOULLI. A fantastic tale written by ALEXANDER HAHN, the English version read by TOM KORKAMES, the German version by WOLFGANG HÖNTZKE.

The image shows the installation at the ZEEBELT THEATER in THE HAGUE/NL, part of the 1992 WORLD WIDE VIDEO FESTIVAL. The projection with the insects was mapped onto the floor and the side walls, the main channel floating in mid-air, and the speaker reading from a monitor. The viewer was standing on the stage, peering over the banister at the spectacle below.
